(OKLAHOMA CITY – Dec. 18, 2008) The American Bar Association Journal announced that it has selected Jim Calloway’s Law Practice Tips Blog as one of the top 100 best Web sites by lawyers, for lawyers.
It is the second year in a row the site has been awarded the honor.
Calloway’s blog may be found at http://jimcalloway.typepad.com.
Calloway is the director of the Oklahoma Bar Association’s Management Assistance Program, which assists attorneys with law office practice management and technology issues.
"New legal blogs are springing up on a daily basis – we now have more than 2,000 in our online directory. Competition for the time and attention of lawyers is getting fiercer," said Edward Adams, the journal's editor and publisher. "Half the blogs on last year's inaugural Blawg 100 list didn't make the cut this year. That's a testament to the quality of this year's honorees, and evidence of the increasing amount of valuable information all legal blogs are publishing."
Blawg is a term used by some in the legal industry to distinguish law-related blogs from others.
“I’m greatly honored to be selected by the ABA Journal again for 2008, especially in view of the great new blogs that have been noted,” Calloway said. “It just shows the power of blogs for one individual’s blog to gain such a national following. I also think busy lawyers appreciate my formula of mostly short concise tips on the blog and links to other, more detailed material online.”
Although Calloway’s blog is directed to the legal community, he notes that many of his Internet and technology tips would be of use to many people.
“We all have many things we’d like to take the time to learn about how to use technology,” Calloway said. “Something you can learn in five minutes that saves you five minutes each day can be very powerful and really increase your productivity.”
Lawyers are now being asked to vote on their favorites in each of the Blawg 100's 10 categories. To vote, go to www.abajournal.com/blawgs/blawg100_2008. Voting ends Jan. 2, 2009.
With more than 413,000 members, the American Bar Association is the largest voluntary professional membership organization in the world. The ABA Journal is the ABA’s flagship magazine.
The 16,000-member Oklahoma Bar Association, headquartered in Oklahoma City, was created by the Oklahoma Supreme Court to advance the administration of justice and to foster and maintain learning, integrity, competence, public service and high standards of conduct among Oklahoma’s legal community.
